A new butterfly citizen science project

Welcome to Butterflies Australia! We are a citizen science project that aims to get everybody looking at butterflies and recording their sightings. After many years in the works, we are finally launching on Thursday October 24th, 2019. We have a free phone app (iOS and Android) and a website that will let you send your sightings to us. The apps also include a free digital field guide, and the website will have a feature that lets you explore the butterfly data in a number of ways on a handy map. ...

Butterflies Australia gets a stamp of approval!

Thanks to some great work from our friends at the Australian Citizen Science Association (https://citizenscience.org.au/), Australia Post has honoured our project with a stamp issue! Our stamp has been released along with stamps for three other great citizen science projects as part of a special issue celebrating citizen science in Australia. Offshore Island Butterflies

Thanks to a wonderful offer from photographer and butterfly enthusiast Frank Pierce, we have been able to add a number of images of Christmas Island butterflies to the field guide! We have taken the opportunity to begin adding range maps and field guide entries for offshore island species.
